Welcom to our Blog

Welcome to the official Web Log (aka Blog) of the 4040 guys that are staying in Blacksburg for the summer. The purpose of this blog is threefold. First is to share with all our friends the good times and funny stories and stupidity that will no doubt occur this summer. You may be saying to yourself, "I expect them to have good times and funny stories to share, but whats the deal with the stupidity?" Well, I will tell you. James, unlike the rest of us here, has failed to get a job. So, once James completes his hour and fifteen minutes of class each morning, he is home alone for approximately 7 hours. In case you are not follow, I made a diagram:

I hope that clears things up. Now on to the second reason for the blog: Give Rider something to do while he is bored at work. So, I've been working for a week and half now and I have done some pretty interesting stuff. I have played with a really big water tunnel (its like a wind tunnel, but with water(!) ), burnt hole in stuff with a really big laser and failed at building a faraday cage (I'll talk more about my work in a later post and include some pictures). But often I am reading textbooks and journals or sometimes just hanging out, which can get boring. On Monday I skipped out on work for 2 hours in the middle of the day to go to the driving range with James and Shreck, but I can't do that everyday. Now I have an outlet for my boredom on those slow days at work. The best part is that I can open up a report in Microsoft Word that is real important looking with lots of charts and graphs and stuff and start typing my blog post right in the middle of it. Then, everyone around me at work thinks I'm writing some big boring report and working real hard. When I'm done writing, I just cut and paste it into the blog. I just thought of that right now, all by myself.

The third and final reason for this blog is to prove beyond any doubt that our summer is more fun than McVey's, which shouldn't be hard to do. Maybe at the end of the summer we will have a poll and you guys can vote on who's summer is more fun (I'll have to see if I can do that on this blog, I just don't know).

I hope you all enjoyed the first post. Here are some future posts to look forward to: "Shreck's Porsche", "Meet the new guys" and "our summer goals".

I like the simple life approach you have taken. Keep on, keep truckin'.
